Dental implants are used to fill any gaps left by missing teeth. If you have any gaps like this, it is recommended that you consider having an implant. Leaving gaps open for too long can lead to misalignment among your remaining teeth. They will eventually start to drift from their correct positions, in an attempt to fill the gap.
There are three types of dental implants, each with their own unique benefit.
Tradition dental implants – These are anchored by crowns on the two neighboring teeth. Even though the neighboring teeth may be healthy, some of their enamel will be removed to make room for the crown. Once this is done, the artificial tooth will be attached to them on each side
Bonded dental implants – These are anchored by a metal framework with a “wing” on each side, which connects to the existing teeth.
Cantilever dental implants – These are anchored on just one side. When there is no tooth present on one side of the gap, the two teeth on the opposite side are given crowns. This provides extra support, which makes up for the lack of support on the first side.
